“The Hallyu wave storming the word” as said by BBC, with the ever growing popularity of K-Pop, K-Dramas and their collection of stunning idols and actors. With the coming storm, the fashion trends of korean youths are also fascinating adolescences and fashionistas around the world. Thru their mishmash of clothing, youth try to style their own unique and individual identity through clothes and fashion. With a widely eclectic fashion, the one thing for sure to describe korean fashion, is it's pushing the boundaries.

Breaking down the variety of style, we bring to you the top three trends that are going to make it big in 2020.

OVERSIZED TOPS:

And yes, whilst oversized clothing have been in for a long time now, South Koreans have mastered the way to correctly proportion oversized clothing, or more specifically oversized tops.

The best way to style the oversized look is pairing an oversized top with tight bottoms or statement shoes. A french tuck can also go a long way in making the outfit look effortless and stylish.

This trend is often seen on idols, from their comfy airport fashion to their amazing stage outfits. Idols such as Blackpink’s Rosé can often be spotted wearing oversized jumpers tucked into leggings, and BTS’s Suga and Ateez’s Yunho + Mingi can often be sporting oversized knits and shirts tucked into jeans.

ACCESSORISE:

If there’s one things korean’s know how to do, and that accessorising. More is better, and the more out there and clever the accessory is the better. Whether you’re accessories with many belts, harnesses, or stacks of delicate jewellery, accessories can add so much to a look, and create a new level of individuality.

Whether they are female or male, this doesn’t stop kpop stylist from adding copious amounts of jewellery into their look, for example, GOT7’s Jinyoung in

their comeback Not By The Moon, who wore many rigs, earrings, bracelets, and even had wore chain accessories over his shirt, as seen to the left, or totally random things such as Mamamoo’s Hwasa in recent comeback Hip, supporting knee pads, a chain belt and a fanny pack.

MIX AND MATCH:

The best way to pull of this look, is to ignore everything you know about fashion, and go with your mood. Mixing patterns and plaids, colours and fabrics, you cannot go wrong with this trend. Youth in Korea have an effortless way of throwing everything together and making it look fabulous.

Idols like Big Bang’s G-Dragon and Seventeen’s Vernon, can often be seen in some very questionable looks, yet somehow pulling them off effortlessly.

Wearing items like tie dye jumpers, black blazer, a striped beanie and red sunnies, or blue suits, black mesh tops, pink socks, black sneakers and a pale pink turtle neck, there’s always something interesting to look at when these guys are in the picture.

Which of these trends will you be giving a shot this winter??

Whilst in Korea, piercings beyond the ear lobe are still uncommon, and can be consider resistance against the system, international fans can get really excited when idols uncover new piercings. Here, we’ve collated a bunch of idols with crazy and unexpected piercing places, as well as those addicted to getting piercings.

NCT's Yuta

With it’s 21 members, there are bound to be a few in NCT who have crazy habits. And in this case, NCT127’s Yuta is one the only male idols known to have a belly piercing. And when we all found out this March, by words of soompi.com “we all just lost it“. Yuta is also well known for his 8 ear piercings, 5 lobe ones, and 3 cartilage ones.

NCT and SuperM's Taeyong

Like many NCT members, Taeyong has a number of ear piercings, including 2 helix piercings to his left ear. During NCT's 2018 Yearbook promotions, Taeyong was found sporting a lip piercing! However to many nctzens disappointment, it was only a fake piercing, as shown through the behind scenes. If the lip piercing was to ever make a comeback, fans will guarantee to be supportive for it.

NCT, WayV and SuperM's Ten

Fellow NCT member Ten, apart of the Chinese subunit, WayV, is also well known for his delicate and beautiful 11 ear piercings, with 6 lobe piercings and 5 cartilage piercings. Somehow he still manages to make them look fairy like and not too much.

Infinite's Sungyeol

Known for popularising 3 different piercing places in the early 2010s, Sungyeol is the king of ear piercings. Whilst now, as he's grown older, he's let a few close up, at the peak of his piercings, he had around 9 piercings in his left ear, starting from his lobe and going the whole way up.

Got7's JB

After almost breaking instagram with his latest piercing, Got7's leader JB is definitely not afraid of the needle, (or controversies). With his latest piercing being under his right eye, called an "anti brow", JB is also known for being one of the few idols with a nose piercing. He also supports 4 piercings per ear.

Former F(x)'s Amber

The only girl in our list, Amber is an inspiration for not caring about peoples opinions, and doing what makes her happy. With her tomboy charms, and supporting a full sleeve tattoos on her right arm, it’s no surprise that Amber has 9 ear piercings and a nose piercing. She supports 5 lobe piercings and 4 cartilage piercings.

With COVID-19 keeping most of the world in lockdown for over a month, we have been confined to our homes and interaction is purely online.Taking classes online, chilling out with your friends in zoom, answering work calls in bed, we’ve got the three best things to stay comfortable yet stylish during these unprecedented times.

Number One: PJ Bottoms

So you’re sitting at your desk, 8:55am, waiting for class to start, just rolled out of bed. The best thing about online classes, is they can only see your top half (mind you don’t stand up). Whether you’re wearing pyjama pants, burrito rolled your legs in a blanket, or choosing tracksuit over a skirt, all that has to look good is your top half. This hack is actually often used on news shows such as ‘The Project’ on channel ten, where the host has pretty top on, and then a pair of leggings.

Number Two: Fake Collar

Do shirts annoy the hell out fo you? Itchy and uncomfortable, and somehow always cold? Take an old shirt and lay it flat. cut it in half and then chop the arms off. now you have a fake collar that you can wear under a jumper, a knit, a cardigan, or even a blazer. Looking professional but staying comfortable.

Number Three: Minimal Make Up

The one thing about online classes, meetings and hangouts, is the quality of the video. AKA the quality is terrible. Meaning we don’t have to spend hours putting on make up to look presentable. However, if you’re someone like me who still wants the illusion of wearing make

up and looking perfect, an easy fix to this is slapping on a bright or dark lipstick that is obvious and clear through a “720 max. video”. My personal preference is a dark red lip, and, as said by www.heart.co.uk: “What’s more glamorous than red lips?” Just remember not to clash you lipstick with your clothing, as this will make your “put together” look fall apart. And don’t forget the best weapon to make yourself look effortlessly beautiful. A big, bright and happy smile :)
